Another Apple event is almost here, though this one will likely feel different than past September events. Leaks and rumors suggest everyone expects news about Pro-level iPhones and a long-awaited foldable device. Since the Covid pandemic, Apple has avoided live presentations, instead inviting media and employees to the Apple campus to watch prerecorded videos of product announcements. The base iPhone 18 launch may be delayed to spring 2027 due to increased manufacturing costs and a memory crisis. This move aims to build hype for premium products and introduce a new iPhone leasing program. The mid-tier iPhone 18e and a second-gen iPhone Air may be announced in the spring.
New AirPods could also be revealed, though the heavily rumored AirPods Pro with cameras—designed as Siri’s visual assistant for AI—may be delayed. New iPads, Macs, or home devices are unlikely this week; Apple announced a new Mac Mini and Mac Studio in August, with potential October product launches. Unconfirmed reports suggest iPhone preorders will open on September 12, a day later than usual, respecting the 9/11 anniversary.
The following week may see the official release of software updates like iOS 27 and macOS 27.
